  WHAT HAPPENED?

  The young winger was brought on in the 54th minute of United's game with Nottingham Forest to replace the injured Antony. The Ivorian is making his first appearance for the Red Devils in two years — having last featured for the club back in December 2021 — after his impressive spell on loan at Sunderland last season.

• THE BIGGER PICTURE

  United fans will be hoping that Diallo will be able to spark some impetus into their attack and offer competition for the languid Antony. The Brazilian has once again disappointed for United this season and was unable to offer anything on the day, despite Erik Ten Hag devising a "specific plan" for the winger.

  Upon Diallo's introduction, it was Antony who gained the majority of attention. As Antony departed, the Nottingham Forest fans could be heard singing: "What a waste of money!"

  United kick off their FA Cup campaign away to Wigan next Monday hoping to win the last available trophy of the season. Diallo will be hopeful to get even more minutes in the tank.
